The occurrence

On 28 December 2025, a train operated by Quebec North Shore and Labrador Railway was travelling southward on the main track of the Wacouna Subdivision when 29 cars loaded with iron ore and a mid-train remote locomotive derailed at Mile 37.7 near Sept-Îles, Quebec.

The remote locomotive’s fuel tank was punctured, resulting in the release of approximately 2500 litres of diesel fuel. No injuries were reported. The TSB is investigating.
