History of the flight

On 15 July 2019, the float-equipped de Havilland DHC-2 MK I Beaver aircraft (registration C-FJKI, serial number 992), operated by Air Saguenay (1980) Inc. (Air Saguenay), was conducting a day trip under visual flight rules from a fly-in fishing lodge on Crossroads Lake, Newfoundland and Labrador, to Mistastin Lake, Newfoundland and Labrador. A pilot and 6 passengers were on board. The purpose of the flight was to travel to Mistastin Lake for a day of fishing.

The occurrence

On 3 July 2019, the Zenair STOL CH750 amateur-built aircraft (registration C-GCUU) departed from Sussex Airport (CCY3), New Brunswick, with only the pilot on board. The pilot did not inform anyone of his plans, so the purpose of the flight and the time of departure are unknown.

On 24 September 2019, the E & B Helicopters Ltd. Bell 206B helicopter (registration C-GEBY, serial number 3375) was conducting a visual flight rules flight from the operator's base at Campbell River (E & B Heli) Heliport (CCR6) in Campbell River, British Columbia, to Moat Lake, British Columbia, with only the pilot on board.

The occurrence

A Piper PA-60-602P aircraft was on a private/pleasure flight from Eastern Sierra Regional Airport (KBIH) in Bishop, California to Nanaimo Airport, British Columbia (CYCD). While on an instrument approach to Nanaimo Airport, the aircraft collided with terrain on Gabriola Island, British Columbia. All 3 people aboard were fatally injured.

The occurrence

On 27 September 2019, a privately operated Piper PA18-150 aircraft (registration C-GGVC, serial number 18-7609024X) was conducting a local flight near a farm 25 nautical miles east of Camrose (CEQ3), Alberta. The aircraft had arrived at the farm earlier in the afternoon and picked up a passenger for a short flight.
